Omer Faruk Naim

Omer Faruk Naim is a Bangladeshi journalist and author, currently serving as the District Correspondent of DBC News and Jagonews24.com, and the Moulvibazar Correspondent of the Daily Kalbela. They are one of the most popular TV channels, online portals and national daily newspapers in Bangladesh. He was born on 14 April 1999 in Jogonnathpur village, under Kulaura Municipality of Moulvibazar District. His father was Md. Junaid Ahmed and mother Mumina Begum. Naim spent his early years in Kulaura before moving to Moulvibazar town at the age of two, where he grew up in a supportive environment and became involved in various social and literary organizations. Naim graduated from Moulvibazar Government College with Honors in Business Education. From his student days he showed keen interest in writing and journalism, participating in youth and social movements which later shaped his career. He began his journalism career at a young age, joining PhotoNewsBD and Weekly Moumachikontho in 2015. Over the years, he has worked with several reputed national and international media outlets, including Dhaka Post, ION TV UK, Protidiner Sangbad, Sylhetview24.com, Weekly Purbodeek, Weekly Patakurir Desh, Indepth News of Bangladesh (INB). Beyond journalism, Naim is also a director at Upon Group, and serves as the Sports and Cultural Secretary of Moulvibazar Press Club, where he has been an active member since 2018. He also holds the position of Joint Secretary at Campaign For Media Freedom (CMF). Over the years, he has earned recognition as a grassroots journalist, reporting on public issues, crime, and social development from one of the most diverse districts of Bangladesh. His work reflects a commitment to truth, transparency, and the voices of the underrepresented.
